In my house, I do the majority of the cleaning and my husband does the majority of the cooking. We both clean up after ourselves, though.

I'd say we're both pretty happy with this arrangement - I'm a terrible cook and a cleaning perfectionist, so it works nicely.

And in your house?

Well if this arrangement works for your house then I wouldn't change a thing. But I am sure that the ideal way, which is how we try to do it in our house, is the share the responsibilities. If one person is deficient in one area, then they should have their spouse help them be able to do the area that they may not be strong in.

Well, things have changed over the 17 years we have been married... I guess, everyone needs to adapt. At the beginning, we were both working and I did the cooking and vast majority of the cleaning. Then, once I became a SAHM, he did a bit more cleaning. However, health problems lately for me means I do all the cooking, but need a heck of a lot more help with the cleaning - which he is great with, but it's hard because he puts in a full day of work. So lately things are sliding... we're clean, but messy!
It's always great when couples work it out so both are generally okay with things!

My house is chaotic. I work 5 days a week 9 hour days. I have two kids and a husband. I pay all of the bills tend to the kids, their homework, make sure they have baths and clean clothes. I do the entire parenting on my own. (NO help at all from the husband). He does the cleaning and maybe cooking once a week. If I don't cook my kids don't eat. And to top it off, he has his hands out expecting hundreds of dollars every time i get paid as if i owe it to him. And i forgot the most important thing, he is an alcoholic and video game freak, He refuses to work as if it is some kind of disease. How do you like that for arrangement!

We split up the cooking, there is no sole cook in our house.

As far as cleaning, he always does the dishes & takes out the trash. I usually do most of the other things, altough he will help if I ask & will do the obvious stuff. If the apartment needs vaccumed while I'm at work he will.

Husband cooks, does the laundry and any repair work needed on the house or car. I do the rest such as dishes and house cleaning.

I do the laundry, 90% of it.
I usually cook unless he's home, then he will.
We both clean, although his cleaning and my cleaning are 2 different things. I usually end up going back over his cleaning.
We try to split the chores between us and try to spend the rest of our time w/ our kids.

I do most of the cooking, some of the cleaning. My husband is the better cleaner than I am though, he's more efficient. I do the laundry as well.
