they despised the MIL before, but it was easy to contain. When it comes to situations involving you or your husband with the MIL, it's easy to stay calm and deal with whatever.

But for your child, it's a whole different world. You don't put up with anything! It's totally normal, and totally frustrating!

After reading every ones story I feel some what normal. Thanks. I think personally it has to do with being territorial as well. After my son was born I felt really territorial and didn't like when anyone would try to "mother" my son. I feel like I have waited my whole life to be a mother and it is my turn, my MIL and Mom had their turn already so they need to back off. I can not stand when they give advise that might of made sense 25 years ago and since then it does not. Just do what you have to do, and be the best mom you can.

Oh I hear you. It started with my MIL when I became pregnant. She didn't want to be called grandma, she wanted to be called "aunty" she felt "grandma" was too old sounding. She's in her 60's!
Then she arrived from out of town 1 week after my son was born by c-section and refused to help out in any way! Then she kept telling me that the baby wasn't getting enough food because I was breastfeeding and I was a bad mother for not giving him a bottle! We haven't spoken in about 5 months and that's fine with me. I'm just thankful she lives very far away.

LOL. My extreme dislike for my mother in law began after she found out she was going to be a grandma, it has been down hill from there ever since.
