His Vice President was Alexander Stephens and his treasury Secretary was Judah Benjamin, Like Lincoln, he was born in Kentucky. He moved the Confederate capital to Richmond, Va. He was pardoned by Andrew Johnson after the war. He had been Secretary of War for James Buchan when the war began.
