They have to grow up REALLY quickly.
1) They have to get a low-paying job.
2) They have to get a crappy apartment
3) They keep wishing they had just stayed in school

The first thing that will happen is you will search for an apartment when your parents kick you out of the house. Second you will look for an apartment. Third you will stay with friends because you don't have the money for an apartment. Fourth you will try to get a high paying job and not find anything because you don't have the minimum requirements. Fifth you will get a low paying job and rent a room until you realize your mistake. Sixth you will go back to school at the age of 25 as a mature student and get your high school diploma and then go to college and get a proper education so you can get a better job and a better life.

OMG this is ridiculous! You people are so judgmental! My husband dropped out of highschool when he was 16 mainly because the principal asked him to. His grades were horrible, he hated going and hardly went. Well he got his GED, then went to a community college and got his college basics done, then went on to a University and got his degree. He owns his own business and makes a great income. God the way you people are is horrible! No wonder why the world is the way it is, you assume and judge EVERYTHING and everyone just because they do not act the way you do.
High school students work at fast food places, does that mean they are low life's?
Some people who graduate from high school dont go to college, also the college drop out rate is very high for first years. But you wont call them low lifes because they have a diploma, well technically that wont get them very far.
Anyone who is doubting my answer, by all means, go to a university, take a survey and find out how many people are there with GEDs. You'd be surprised.
People with GEDs and decide not to further their education is the same as people with diplomas who also decide to not further their education, is the same thing.

What do you mean? You mean when a teenager drops out of school? If so, then you have to get a job. But, you don't have any job skills, so you have to get a low paying menial labor job. Think digging ditches, flipping burgers. With such a job, you won't have any money for an apartment, or a car. Think staying at home and living with mom and dad. If you're old enough, you can go into the army. Think coming home in a body bag. Stay in school. Get an education. Go to college or learn some job skills. Think success.

Well, there is a certain amount of age you can be before you can drop out. I think its 15. If you do, you cant go to college because you haven't finished high school. Also, a lot of jobs want a high school graduate at least or someone going to school to work. Its hard. You can probably find a cheap restaurant or fast food place to work and get 50 dollars or less a day +)

It depends, in my case, I dropped out of high school my senior year....stupidest decision of my life!! I did get a very low paying job working horrible hours. I finally realized I needed and deserved more. I went back to school, got my H.S diploma, started college and am now scheduled to graduate this month from USC (university of Southern Cali)
I am not saying it's going to be easy but if you want it bad enough you can still accomplish your goals. My advice is, don't drop out in the first place...it's not worth it!!

When teens drop out of school they end up working at jobs like Burger King or Mc Donalds. These type of jobs don't require a diploma, and as a result they end up getting payed a very low salary compaired to someone who did graduate high school.

Every single adult that I have met who dropped out of high school regrets it!!! GED, or as we like to joke, the "Good Enough Diploma"-really isn't good enough. Trust me, I hated going to school. I skipped alot. As a matter of fact, I don't think I went to math or chem at all during my sophomore year. I smoked weed. I smoked cigarettes. I wasn't a sl*t, per se, but I was sexually active. I didn't give a flying rats behind about school, other than as a social thing. It is by the GRACE OF GOD that I did graduate on time, because my senior year, I really buckled down and did the best that I could. I still skipped occasionally, but I was there more than I was absent.
Be smart. Stay in school. If some of the classes are too hard, speak to a counselor about going into a remedial class in the same subject. It may be embarassing at first, but it looks better to get good grades in a special ed class than it does to drop out altogether. You will be damn proud to walk that stage. You will have a better chance at making something positive of your life. Where do you want to be 15 years from now? Still struggling to make ends meet, or living a financial noble and stable life? Public Assistance ain't isht, and only barely gets you the minimum necessities.
I'm gonna step off this soap box and let someone else get up here, now.

I dropped out of high school, but was smart and was tragically dissapointed at how little employers cared about my intelligence. The only jobs I could get were fast food, movie theatre and grocery store, so needless to say... I got a GED and am now in college, because heavy lifting is not for me.

You may think you can function in society, but the cost of living is way too high not to get educated thru high school. And then you need to get technical traing for some trade. The fact that you don't get that means your dumb or you think construction work/ where your back goes out at 40 with no health insurance and unable to work is the answer. You have to get re-trained 5 times before you retire now. This is the information society now and you can expect to have to change jobs alot, this requires being on top of your game by retraining. I don't know where you been kids but keep trying.
