I don't know what Oregon law is, but I would think 18 years old is considered a legal adult, just like anywhere else in America. Contact your local authorities - they can tell you for sure.
Go easy on your mom. Sometimes we're ready to let go, and other times it's hard enough on us when our children want to move across town when they finally move out. I don't know what the situation is (i.e., what your boyfriend is like, how long you've been together, are you graduating from high school first, are you emotionally mature / responsible, etc.) There are a LOT of factors to consider, but the bottom line is that no matter HOW old you get, your mother will always see part of you as her baby girl. You're telling her that her baby wants to move across the country. That's a big pill for any mother to swallow and a huge emotional adjustment to make. Pray for her to accept your decision, behave like a responsible, respectful adult, KEEP IN REGULAR CONTACT WITH HER, and God will take care of the rest.

You can move out at 18, she has some misguided info from somewhere. So she is not telling you the truth.
** tell her you talked to a military recruiter, and they confirmed it for you. and that you are thinking of joining the military, she what she says then, if nothing else the look on her face will be good.
Best of Luck, but try not to burn any bridges with your folks.

At 18, you are an adult, and can do what you want.
However...maybe the two of you should try living together in OR first, before moving across the country. Thats a HUGE commitment!

Shouldn't be. I moved out when I was 16. I think legally you have to be 18.

In MOST states legal age is 18.... BUT your parents are responsible for you until you are 21. Therefore you must be able to prove that you can provide for YOURSELF....FOOD, SHELTER,ETC. Check your state laws.

It sounds like you want to move out in the worst way.
And this sounds like it's the worst way to do it.
Rethink this decision.
