I think it's perfectly natural and normal to feel a little of both.

I'm sorry your father has had to be away on your birthday. Don't be mad at the army. Your father is a soldier, and has no choice but to obey orders. I hope he is safe and returns home safely.
It is so sad now to see how the US people have been duped by their government and are now paying so traumatically, all for the sake of a few idiots and a hell of a lot of money. You do however have a chance of a better government, or even getting that insane lunatic George Bush impeached. He would be the 1st president to be impeached for being insane, though Nixon was probably as mad as him.
But always remember, the world does not blame your soldiers for the terrible agonies they inflict on Iraq, and we even can empathize with US troops being killed. It is a sad situation, and I hope it ends soon.

It's okay to be a little of both, Iknow I felt the same way when my only brother had to go to Iraq. He spent 14mos. there & Iwon't say it was an easy time for any one but he & his whole unit came home without being injured. Try praying for his safe return & just being proud of him for who he is. By focusing on positive thoughts & feelings it will make it easier for you to make it through this time. Also talk to your family & friends who understand the situation ,it will help everyone involved.Good luck to you & your family . i'll remember you & your dad in my prayers.

this a very hard time for you . It is alright to be upset . not only do you have the fear for your Dad's safety ,but you also have to give up the support group (your friends) that could have helped you thru it. Try talking to your Mom. or Gaurdian they may be feeling the same way you are right now. Thank you for your sacrifice. May god keep his arm around your Dad and bring him home safely.

Try to accept the fact that your Father volunteered to serve our country. Be proud of him and let him know you care. Good luck and God Bless.

You should be happy that your dad has the courage to protect people he has never even met before. There are so many perfectly able people who are cowards and just want to watch from afar.
