I think that King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla King of the Monsters, and Destroy All Monsters are the best.

...hands down!!!

My favorite 'Godzilla' film would have to be "Invasion of the Astro-Monsters" (1965), released here in the states as "Monster Zero"; overflowing with major campy sci-fi kitch and humor, it is probably the most fun of all the 'Godzilla' to watch (with the riotous 1962's "King Kong vs. Godzilla" coming in at a close second).

What can one say about a ontarage of aliens, decked out in skin-snug, black and grey vinyl outfits, with slitted Devo visors, and antennas sticking out of their heads, who come to earth to capture Godzilla (who when captured in that damn giant bubble, looked like he was sucking his thumb) and Rodan (who looked like a giant roast chicken, when captured in another bubble), and take them to their home (which is, of course, Planet X) to do battle with Monster Zero, aka King Ghidorah.

Of course, true 'Godzilla' fans know why the aliens REALLY came to earth (I won't ruin it for the unitiated).

What about Godzilla doing that crazy 'victory dance', after he and Rodan kicked the crap out of King Ghidorah on Planet X? To see anything that would top that scene, I would have to flash-forward to 1971's "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" (aka "...vs. Hedorah), where the big guy propels himself backwards across the Japanese countryside, using his fiery atomic breath (I might be mistaken, though...this might have been from 1973's "Godzilla vs. Megalon"...looks like it's high time for a refresher viewing of these films!!!).

...the campy, ludicrous dialogue...the cheesiest special effects...I could go on and on!!! And what the heck was Nick Adams, one of the classic proverbial Amercian movie 'rebels', doing in a 'Godzilla' movie??? A double-picture deal, apparently, as he also starred in 1965's "Frankenstein Conquers the World".

Although "Monster Zero" helped to mark a point in 'Godzilla' history, where he was no-longer an enraged creature, stomping the hell out of Tokyo, becoming more of an 'earth savior' (a character trait exhibited in a much more sickly-sweet fashion, when "...vs. Megalon" came along...I think I picked up a cavity, watching that one!!!), the film is still the most fun a 'Godzilla' fan could possibly have!!!

...now, if you'll excuse me, I am compelled to blow the dust off my DVD of "Monster Zero", once again....

...and remember, "If you want to live, Astronaut Fuji, you will step into this cylinder...without delay!!!"

Definitely 'Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla'! I mean, c'mon, it has Godzilla, his space titanium doppelganger Mechagodzilla, evil spacemen AND King Ceasar(the scruffy protector of Okinawa)! Who could ask for anything more?!
