log base 3 (x+22)-log base3 (x-2)=2
log base 3 [(x + 22) / (x - 2)] = 2
(x + 22) / (x - 2) = 3^2
(x + 22) / (x - 2) = 9
x + 22 = 9(x - 2)
x + 22 = 9x - 18
x + 40 = 9x
40 = 8x
5 = x

You have:
log base 3 (x+22)-log base3 (x-2) =
log base 3 [(x+22)/(x-2)]

Also
log base 3 (9) = 2
=> log base 3 [(x+22)/(x-2)] = log base 3 (9) =>

[(x+22)/(x-2)] = 9 =>

x +22 = 9x -18
8x = 40 =>
x= 5

This is equal to:

Log base 3 of (x+22) / (x-2) = 2

(X+22)
---------- = 9
(X - 2)

X+22 = 9X - 18

8X = 40
X=5

This can be simplified to: logb3[(x+22)/(x-2)]=2
or (x+22)/(x-2)=9 or x+22=9x-18 or 40=8x or x=5.
