A good maintenance measure is to disconnect the battery terminals and clean them well with a wire brush before reconnecting them. But if your battery is 5 years old, you may be due to buy a new one. Stop at your local auto parts store and have the battery and charging system checked. If your battery is not holding a charge as it should, it's putting a heavy load on your alternator, so you could damage your alternator if you need a new battery.

You didnt say what the engine done when you tried to start it up. Did it crank slowly?,did it just click?. did it crank normal? It could be as simple as a low battery thats needs replacing and it was just a coincidence that you were parked on that hill and it rained. The only other thing would be a weak fuel pump as a remote source. The low pressure of being on a hill forcing the fuel back down and maybe the slower cranking of the engine.
Good luck, and test the electrical system out 1st.
