A friend went thru a divorce several years ago. She is receiving SSI disability. Is she entitled to her former husbands social security when he dies? And will this affect her SSI disability? (state of Pennsylvania)

She will be entitled to draw based on his income when she is 62 provided she was married to him for 10 years or more. He don't have to be dead, but she cannot collect if she has remarried.

Hi,
If they were married 10 years or more, She is entitled to his money. She should check to see who made the most and apply for that one (if her husbands) or keep her own. She can NOT have them both.

Depends on her age, and how long they were married.
