In OE, click Tools > Accounts. There is a mail account (perhaps more than one) that's not set up correctly. Click the account in question, click Properties, and in there, click the Servers tab. That's where the mail servers are set up. If you have a POP ("post office protocol") or other mail account, then you can get the server settings from the company you have your email account with. Some companies also require secure log-ins, etc., so all the settings there need to match the requirements of your email company.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy to answer your question.

As there's a bazillion different ISP's around the world (ISP = internet service provider, the company you actually pay to connect to the Internet) they each would have their own SMTP and POP3 settings.

SMTP and POP3 are special servers that sends and receives your e-mail, respectively. You have to enter the correct name of the servers in use by your ISP to access your email. Some ISP only provide webmail, and thus don't even HAVE SMTP and POP3 servers.

Outlook Express by default just have "SMTP" as your SMTP server address. It is obviously NOT a valid server address or server name. Same for the POP3 entry. You will have to edit the entry and enter your ISP's specific information.

Internet Explorer would still work because it is not really going to anything with a bad default. It goes to a homepage that is readily defined, like Microsoft.com or something. And you can always enter another valid URL to go somewhere else.

So, as the other two said, contact your ISP for setup assistance. That's their job. You paid for it, you use it.

Was it working before or have you just set up a new address? It sounds like you've not set up the POP and SMTP servers correctly at setup. Some more info would help with a more accurate answer.

Are you trying to access Yahoo mail or your ISP mail? Yahoo mail will not work unless you pay for the premium package. If it is with your ISP mail just call their support line and they can help you.
