Its biblical and traditional, but is it rare just not to want that? I've been in a 4 year committed relationship, but the desire for marriage isnt there. We plan on spending our lives together, but dont want to get married.

I'm with you! I'll never say never but I dont need a peice of metal wrapped around my finger and a signed piece of paper to know we're committed to each other

There isn't anything wrong with not wanting to get married. If you have committed yourselves to one another, I think that's a wonderful thing. People get married for a variety of reasons, religious beliefs, benefits at work (like health insurance), tax purposes, moral beliefs, etc. However, love and trust are the keys to lifelong relationships, not a ring or a legal contract. I applaud you for your decision! Have a great week! Annie

I got married at 16 and all because I got pregnant and didn't want people to call my baby a b*st*rd well I ended up getting beat on and it was bad. I have been with my b/f for 10 years we have had 4 kids together we call each other husband and wife we just don't want to get married so I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

I think that sometimes marriage can kill a relationship. I know quite a few people who have not entertained the prospect of marriage and are happier than married couples. Be happy that's what it comes down to <3

Enjoy each other's company and don't be bothered by traditions like marriage. Maybe the right time for this kind of commitment will come your way later.

It takes all types to make the world go round. If you dont want to get married, then dont. I've been married for almost 11 years now and am very happy.

Of course it is normal! Marriage is something that people do mainly to publicly acknowledge and profess their love for one another. Some people do it for religious reasons and others do it out of pressure. Do not get married if you are not ready or completely sure that you want to. It may lead to regrets later on.

I think as long as you are happy then it doesn't matter. It is only a piece of paper. I know alot of people who got married because they thought it was the right thing to do but after wards regretted it. One of my friends dated a guy for 3 years and then married him. They are now divorced.

Are you Christian? Paul said it is good for a man not to marry, if he can. But then he said it is better to marry than to burn with lust. Paul knew that he was a minority... so many people don't have whatever it takes to stay single. Are you guys romantically involved I wonder, and if so to what degree? Are you in active sin? Sorry, I know that this is suppposed to be an answer, but there can be so many variables here. Hope I helped more than hindered! :P

then don't get married. If you are committed and happy, what difference would it make? I've been in a committed relationship and i would not change it for anything in the world.
