Your fish has one of two problems. Either a swim bladder infection or the fish is constipated. Constipation is a fairly common problem in fancy goldfish and can be corrected by not feeding the fish for a day or two then giving it an elglish pea or two for some fiber. It that doesn't help him then it's a swim bladder infection and odds of saving him are fairly slim. You can treat the infection with Furanace or Tetracycline and hope for the best. Hope that helps

Most likely he's dying. He probably had some disease that went undetected for too long. Sorry to say that it seems time to flush 'em unless you actually want to pay the money to bring him to a vet that actually cares for fish or some fish stores actually have people that will examine your fish (for a fee) and tell you what can be wrong. Honestly, for a goldfish, it's not worth the money. If it was an exotic fish that you paid "big" bucks for, it would be a different story.

Is your fish still trying to eat? What is the water temperature in the tank?

It sounds like your fish is suffering from swim bladder / constapation problem. Two things to do, first drop the tank water level 1/2 inch. This will help with the dissolved oxygen. Secondly if he is eating, see if you can get him to eat a few peas or green beans. These will help. Keeping your goldfish on a high protein low fat diet will help keep him healthy.

You can supplement their diet with things like Lettuce, mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, spinach, peas, endive, seaweed, cukes, kale, chard, broccoli, lima beans, green beans, etc. and feed aquatic plants (e.g. duckweed, azolla, salvenia, etc) or hair algae daily.

For their Carotenoids which are a family of pigments the fish can't make themselves and are obtained as part of the diet. These pigments result in red, yellow and orange colors. Fish have cells called chromataphores. Those cells convert lutein and carotenes into astaxanthin which is the red pigment.
sources include, brine shrimp, krill, spirulina, marigold flowers, paprika, sweet red peppers, yams, carrots, pumpkin

Watermellons and oranges are also good as well as proteins like chicken (chicken livers) beef (livers and parts) and pork as well as worms and bugs

Also, DO NOT add salt to the tank. The only type of salt that can be added to a goldfish tank or bowl is Epsom salt. Regular salt and aquarium salt leads to swim bladder, dropsy and bloating in goldfish.

Good luck and feel free to email me

Did you do a recent water change or anything leading up to this???? Is there any more info you can give me???? Do you see anything unusual in the water??? Fluffy looking stuff, like cotton? Any red unusual marks on him?? Does he still have his slime coat?? Is he bloated?? How old is he?? 1. do a partial water change 2. Gold fish and koi benefit from salts, aquarium salt, not table salt, added to their water. it helps with gill function, especially in a distressed fish, I have saved fish doing this. It gives them needed electrolytes when they are stressed. It is pond salt. It is inexpensive and you can get it ant any pet store.aka petsmart... scoop out a cup full of water from your tank.. take 1 teaspoon of salt per 10 gallons of water, mix it well with the water, pour it back in. Do this every 3 days until he improves and then every month forever. A goldfish is a pond fish. They will be much healthier and happier for it. I raise koi and gold fish, have been doing it for 7 years.
let me know how you make out, also, great site, koi vet .com , they have gotten me through many scary times. I hope I helped, Dianne
