I would say the wiring in insufficient causing an overload on the circuit.

your unit could possibly need cleaning, or it could be low of freon ,gas.. to save money, there are some things you can try yourself. first take it out of the housing, take it outside,and take all the top off, and check to see how dirty the back of the coils are. if they are extremely dirty, wrap the motor really good with plastic, take to the car-wash, turn it on it's side, and the high pressure will do a very good job cleaning it, but don't hold the wand to close to the coil, because it can flatten the fins on the coil, and you have more problems. if it is not bad dirty, it is probably low on gas. if you are skilled at electrical problems, try changing the breaker. in fact, if it has been cleaned recently, i would change the breaker first. they do go bad,and don't act the same way all the time while they are going bad. i hope this helps,,./// jimmy g

May be a wiring problem or the circuit is also supplying power to something else, that you turn on occasionally and this overloads the breaker/fuse.
