Because their Parents haven't taught them respect.

Because that's the period when their possessiveness and survival instincts are developing.

I've noticed that most answerers said that children's behaviour is connected to their parents. That statement is totally false. Generally, behavior has nothing to do with models or the way kids are raised.

In most cases, children's behaviour is still dictated by their INNER PERSONALITY. Their inner personality cannot be changed. Not completely anyway. No matter how they are raised, no matter how they are influenced, no matter how they grow up and no matter what their parents teach them, children's inner behavior persists. It is true that kids are very easily influenced, but that doesn't mean you can control their behavior. Therefore it is unfair to automatically suppose that just because a child tends to misbehave it is the parents fault. No, children's behavior is not directly connected to parents behavior. Not all children copy their parents' personality and not all of them listen to their parents indications. Children are not a mirror of their parental figures and they are not 'sponges' either therefore they do not simply absorb education.

Unfortunately its human instinct. We grow and are conditioned to behave and interact with respect, otherwise, we would be mean to each other as adults.
Wait, we are mean to each other as adults. Sometimes!
Children are egotistical and the world evolves around them. What is theirs is theirs, what is someone else's is theirs as well. They test their boundaries and do so as a mode of survival. Survival of the fittest wins.

Because they are children and they don't know any better and it might be something to do with the way they are raised and they way they act in their own homes.

they are the center of their universe. Only their selves matter. That others hurt, and they caused it, is not comprehensible to them yet. That is one of the reasons I go with the Christian explanation of beginnings. They fit
