Hi, just moved from london am looking to buy a house in manchester. being an asian i am being warned of not being welcomed in most of manchester areas. Can anyone suggest a safe area and decent area for myself?
I didnt like Chetham hill and Oldham

Am only looking for a safe cosmopolitan area. Anywhere in manchester, it doesnt matter how far it is from the centre. How is Worsley and Prestwich?

I'm from Manchester, but from the south side, so not so cure about north Manchester - other than you'll get more fro your money up there. I've got friends living in Middleton who like it there and I've heard Prestwich/Bury is nice.
Recently moved back to the area and I'm living in Stockport, which is nice, but has a significantly lower ethnic minority population than Manchester.
The only other place I considered moving to was around Old Trafford/Urmston as it seems quite nice there. I guess Chorlton & Didsbury are considered quite sophisticated suburbs, but they are pricey (as is Manchester City Centre).

Where in asia are u from? Russia china japan. Mongolia etc. Its a big continent.theres a lot of drug addicts and dealers in old trafford and the old trafford cripz an afro caribean descended gun gang. Manchester haa the biggest ghettos outside of london. Cheetham hill longsight moss side hulme ardwick rusholme fallowfield to name a few. Ur the one being racist saying ur asian and want to live near asians.

That is totally rubbish! There is so many different nationalities living in manchester!
Cheetham Hill and Oldham is populated with Asians (which you don't like). A lot of places are ok but I agree with the above answer to give moss side a miss (gun crimes are high there). Anywhere else is fine depending on how far you want to live from manchester city centre. Best to look on a map and then decide how far you want to live from there since everyone wants to live as close as possible to the heart of the city. Once you have decided a place, go there and check the areas out yourself.
First impressions are really important.

Whoever told you that is full of b*ll. I am from Manchester and in this city there are all nationalities and that is not a problem. That is infact what makes M'cr such a great city. You can live anywhere. (might wanna miss Moss Side) Chorlton & Didsbury is really nice.

I am in South Manchester near Cheadle - a very nice area - and there are asian people round here , what a shame you had to put up with those terrible replies........

the Seymore Grove/ Ayres Road areas, they are predominantly Asian
