Be an extremely courteous guest. Make your bed every morning, clear your dishes from the table after meals & help out with whatever chores are expected of family members. Fit yourself into their family seamlessly, so that they do not feel they need to wait upon you.
Express your sincere appreciation for their willingness to share their home with you.
Give a small gift to the parents and a Thank You card.

be respectful of their home and show how much you appreciate them letting you stay by cleaning up your messes. Don not make any drastic cleaning efforts like rearranging the cabinets or such. Dont change their things but do tidy up what you know needs it. Respect the fact that it is never easy to have to stay with someone just like it is never easy to have someone stay with you. Keep an open line of communication so if ya'll star to get on each others nerves you can talk about it without risking the friendship. I have come across hard times and hard to stay with friends and these ideas have always worked well for me. They will say make yourself at home but still remember you are a guest in THEIR home. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I would offer to help around the house, and offer to help with the shopping and other things like that!

Occassionally offer to do a bit of housework too, maybe doing the washing up, hoovering or a bit of dusting!

They will be glad of ur help!

Good luck

Be a very responsible house guest. Pick up after yourself, make no demands, and possibly provide a little treat at dessert time, on occasion.

Help them around the house, carry your load with cleaning, helping out, etc. Respect their privacy and just follow their rules (don't be bringing people over their house all hours of night, no parties, etc.).
