I agree with John Paul. You can do it, but it's not the best for the car. Use stabil in the gas tank and fill the gas tank up. After putting in the stabil let the car run a little to get the treatment to the whole engine. A battery trickle charger or battery tender would work great. Batteries last longer if they maintain charge. Ideally you could have a friend start it up and drive it a few miles every other week. Good luck.

Not really good for the car, but its done by many people. If you need a car for six months, just make sure you put fuel treatment in the car. Also, I would leave the car fuel supply full. Just make sure you add treatment to the gas. If you leave it low on fuel, tank could sweat and rust inside of tank. Also be ready to charge the battery when you get home. Hope this helps.

I think that you should check into leasing a car for those six month periods. Besides the extremes in temperature inside the car, and outside, the possibility of theft, vandalism, and just having the car sit there for that period of time can't be good for it. The oil, gas, etc, as well as the tire air pressure would need to be altered for driving time and then the extended parking time.

If u have a trusted friend, the car should be started once or twice a week. This will keep the fluids, and your battery charged. Having a car cover helps to ( paint wont fade) plus keeps the car clean and the enviroment wont damage ur car. Good Luck.

yes it has a better chance of being affected by non use you should have someone start the car a least 2 every 2 weeks to keep the battery charged and so the oil does not settle also have them move the car around so the tires dont develope flat spot and dry rot and make sure they wipe it down every so ofton to help prevent rust also make sure you have it washed and waxed once a month to prevent rust also put dry gas into the gas tank to prevent water build up

Very likely, I would make sure that when you go to store it, make sure you have as little fuel in the tank as possible. Also make sure you have put some fuel treatment in to the tank to help keep the fuel from going bad. you will also want to cap the exhaust pipe off to keep the moisture out as well as make a cap of some sort to seal up the intake. Other then that you should be fine. Oh you will also want to remove the battery while it is being stored for the 6 months.

I would buy a battery tender trickle type battery charger and use Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer always take time to completely fill the fuel tank this prevents rust in the tank. Buy a nice car cover.

Keeping a car inactive for 1/2 year is not good for the car. It needs to be started and driven at least a couple of times a week. It doesn't do the tires any good either, just sitting still.

It's not good as it leads to tire rot, bad fuel, gummed up fuel lines, and frozen valves among other things. I read in an above answer about leasing one. I think that is the way to go. Then you don't have to worry about maintenance the six months you're gone nor do you have to worry about criminals with your car.
