Have you recently replaced one or both brake light bulbs ?
If you have then you have either fitted a single filament bulb instead of a twin, or you have fitted a twin which is not fitted correctly in the bulb holder.
The bulb contacts in the bulb holder are being bridged by the bulbs contacts, this is allowing a current path from the brake light circuit into the lighting circuit causing the problem you describe.
Remove the brake light bulbs and if they are the correct bulbs refit them carefully into their holders ensuring they are the right way around. Otherwise change the bulbs for the correct type.
Hope this helps.

If you remove both front side lights and the rear brake lights no longer work when you push on the brake pedal, then the rear brake lights appear to be getting their battery voltage or ground return through the front side light wiring. But if the rear brake lights continue to work when the front bulbs are removed, then there appears to be a short of the battery voltage wires leading to the front side and rear brakes lights. If both the rear and front lights appear to be normal brightness when you apply the brake (at night when you can see them well) then it appears the shorted battery voltage wire (or control wire) is the problem.

Could have the wrong bulb fitted to one of the rear lights, this will feed power to side light wire when brake is applied

Either earth problem or the last bulb that was replaced was a two filiment not a one filiment. Or vice a versa. Parking lamps and tail lights shorted to brake light at the bulb.

You may have 1 problem, or a combination of problems. First check to see if u have a diagnostic system ( trouble codes) in your car. If your has a brain (computer) you also have sensors, modules, relays,. Some cars you can download the trouble codes, (save you a lot of time & money), and hopefully u can fix the problem. I would suggest you have a qualified mechanic to do the above mentioned. Good Luck.

Bad earth! or you have double filament bulbs that operate your brake and rear lights and one of them is causing a short that can cause your side lights to operate.

It is clear that the earth terminals of the side lights is interchanged with the stop lights. Let the last electrician or mechanic you visited check and fix it.
