Sadly, it looks like after a split with my partner, I will have to let him buy me out because I can't afford it on my own. I estimate I will get around £5 - 6,000 back from my partner. I will then move home with my parents because I can't afford to buy on my own - maybe rent in a while. I'm only 22, have been with my partner since I was 16 so we've always been quite serious, looking at the future etc.

So, what to do with the money? Spend having a good time? Or be sensible and save? Or is there anything a bit different you can think off? For example, I came up with this mad idea of buying a caravan so I can just up and go at the weekends! All ideas welcome!!!

As boring as it may seem, I've known soooo many people over the years who spend their money and then find something they would rather have done with it. How about something like this for an idea...Put it away or invest it financially so it gathers interest for you and add to it as often as you can. Then at the end of the year, take a little holiday using some of it and then keep adding to it until you can afford to buy yourself a home. You won't regret it.

Save it. Check into some investment firms, and see if there are any good opportunities for investment. Or you could put it in the bank.

Do not go on a spending spree. You can continue to save until you can afford a place of your own later.

Brief subject diversion: Oh, you're all of 22. So likely, you've not seen, from like a billion years ago, when it was consistently brilliant, a certain SaturdayNightLive sketch.
And a young Al Franken would come on their 'news' segment, "Weekend Update,"
orate, pontificate, opine a bit and wrap up (full-on with his name in flashing subtitle),
"So, send your money and receipts to me, Al Franken!"

As for me, I never see my money. I have a Direct-Deposit arrangement between my employer and BestBuy Entertainment and Price Gouging Subsidiaries Inc.

Well, you DID write, "All ideas welcome!!!"

Hope you won't be too sad for experiencing this kind of problem...you're already 22, you're amateur enough to think of your own...do what you think that suits you...as long as we're happy, it's okay to spend away the money...money can be earn back but happiness can't be earn...think of it carefully...but i'm not telling you to spend all of it...save some for future emergency use...hope it'll help you...

I'd have fun with 1/3 of it & save 2/3 of it.

Don't make any knee-jerk decisions, put the money away until you can decide on whether you are going to spend, save or a bit of both.

Save it! I've got a caravan and it takes all my money, what with the ground rent etc.and once you've got one and you enjoy it you don't want to get rid!

I would save it. Put it back and eventually you can buy your own place and start over. Or save and buy you a car eventually but don't go and blow it...you may regret it later.
