on top of maintaining his/her salary for life, they also receive secret service protection, free office rent (see bill clinton's higher office rent to a 'friend' than all the living presidents combined, even before the recent death), and other similar expenses.

yes, half of what the current salary is for the current President, plus medical benefits, plus Secret Service protection.
I have no problem with that---being President is a difficult and dangerous job, and top executives (and athletes) make much more money.

Most members of the Government get that. Makes you wonder how much our taxpayer dollars go to salaries of ex Presidents, Senetors, and congressmen. They should retire the same way we all have to.

He receives a retirement, gets healthcare, has a security detail, and is paid princely sums to give private speeches and personal appearances. He also gets a Library built (at private expense) to hold all his correspondences and personal papers, executive orders and such.
Senators and Congressmen get similar benefits, although they are not often provided the 24/7 security that an ex-President does, and their papers just get donated to existing Universities, if at all.
This is not new. nothing to outraged or upset about.

The presidents, congresspersons and senators all receive a pension and health care for life. Even those who are incarcerated for crimes, those who were horrible representatives also are covered. Of course our taxes pay for this. Remember they are the lawmakers, of course, they will enact laws that benefit themselves are the expense of the taxpayers.

I'm not certain of the amount, but it's certainly above $350,000.00. Plus for free, he gets a staff of several people, plus, I think, 10 Secret Service agents protecting him and his family for life. Posh tosh.
