I went & got tested & I would like my future partners to be tested as well. I believe in serial monogamy...one partner at a time. I know there tends to be a low incidence rate of STD's among lesbians, but I want to keep myself & partner(s) as safe as possible.

Has a lover ever made this request of you before? How did you react?

I was afraid of asking this on here. A friend told me that I would never find a partner this way!

You guys are making me smile & giving me hope! :D I made mistakes when I was younger & I do not want to repeat them again...

First of all, I want to say that is really sweet what you said: "I want to keep myself and partner as safe as possible" It shows that it's not just about your health, but you care about your partner's health as well.

I think it's a good idea to get tested...it's always better to be safe than sorry. If my lover made a request like this I would not be offended at all.

I would feel as tho' the 1 asking...does care about Me!
No 1 has ever asked me.
I went on my own, got tested etc... er'thang is o.k.
I recently found out that my spouse of 20 some odd yrs., has been seeking out others (I'll leave it @ that k.) periodically.
So I went & got tested, & I'll do it again.
I'm not ashamed to say; I did this, & I'll do it again.

p.s. I asked if he uses condoms, he said no, SO I went, got some, & I make him use them..w/ me, n/eways.
I told him, I got enough for him.
Cuz if he ain't gonna stop being w/ others, 1) I'll b protected
2)so will he, if he uses them.

Here's a star to you... (",)
I have asked my fiance (whilst he was still my boyfriend) before, he was quite fine with it. We went for our first tests and made another appointment for our second tests.

I felt really lucky coz at the waiting room we came across a girl who'd come alone. She kept telling me how lucky I was and how great it was that my boyfriend had come with.

A partner willing to get tested and/or go with as well, is definitely worth the keeping coz you at least know the two of you respect life and each other and wouldn't want to ruin each others live's.

I'd feel quite relieved actually. Relieved at the fact that I didn't have to ask first, this is after all an uncomfortable question, but nowadays has to be asked.

It comforting to know that there are people out there who are responsible enough to ponder these things.

The only real cure, aside from completely abstaining from sex, for this terrible affliction on society is education.

Sweet relief.

You know all the reasons why. It takes such a small amount of time and the potential disaster it prevents is huge. There's no reason at all not to.

I wouldn't be offended at all - it's responsible!
It means that if she asked ME to get tested, then she asked her previous sexual partners to be tested too. Which ultimately means she protected me from catching anything.
Go ahead and ask. If your partner makes a big deal of it, then they're not worthy of sharing your bed.

I wouldn't be offended at all. I think it's a perfectly reasonable request and it shows you care not only about your own health but also of the person you are going to be with.

I have however known some people who when I asked them if they'd do that, got seriously pissed off at me.

I think it is the most practical thing to do for partners, in this day and age.

Like I was with a smart person who cared about me and her or himself.

My wife and I have done risky things in our pasts, so we tested together until very recently. And then we ended up with the same gynecologist. :-)
