My students loved this one and every one of them memorized them within 2 days. My Very Educated Mother Just Started Using Nail Polish. Thats if you are stull required to teach about Pluto as a planet.

I know seven year olds who have trouble memorizing the solar system. Why don't you just work with your son on things like stars, moon, space, rockets, sun, maybe the fact that the planets are "circles"? My kids do have a space themed room, and we have a little model of the solar system put up as a part of that. You could, I guess, do something like that and go over the names of the different planets. But I do think it's a little early to teach the solar system.

At three years old, it's best to help your son through visual aids.
Buy a solar system kit and build it together, and help him memorize a fact with is in a sentence.
For example:
Mercury is the smallest planet.
Venus is named after the goddess of Love.
Or whatever facts.
You can't memorize something unless you really want to learn it, so making it fun helps.
