First impressions do to a degree matter, they inform you to whether you want to get to know someone or not, but are not always right.
In my experience there have been many people who on first impressions I did not like, and would not have chosen to know.
But because of circumstances, work/school I had no choice but to spend time with them and get to know them. I found many times that the person I thought I didn't like was actually very nice and I was almost ashamed of what my original thoughts about them were.
What I have learned is that first impressions are not always accurate, and judging people on that is doing my/ourselves a disservice b/c we can miss out on meeting someone who will be our truest friend or even a soul mate.

Yes, as long as they still seem accurate.

If you never get to really know a person, all you have is a "first impression", no?

But if you take the time to learn what's in their hearts, you will come to understand the truth more fully.

By the way, God's the same way. We may have our ideas about religion, spirituality, hypocrites, and what not, but if we stay with God's Word, we can learn what's in God's heart...the truth. The Truth will make us free.

Send me an email if you want to know more. Your question was not about God, so I'll end here.

May God bless you.

For most people, at least unconsciously, the first 30 seconds defines the relationship, good, bad or ugly.
