What are the things that sit inside your ring to make it fit on your finger??

I am 13 and have quite skinny fingers, i love rings and really want 3 that are on sale, but they most likely wont fit. mum said she has some ring things that sit inside them and make the ring fit. How does it work and how much do they cost??

There called ring gaurds. Wal-mart carries them in the jewerly department for about $2, but there is more than one size guard
