This question is a no-brainer! The price of natural gas has gone up. There is a lot of money to be made if you can find natural gas. People are looking for natural gas by drilling for it in places where it was found before.

Because there is a lot natural gas to be found in and around Zapata County - it's been producing gas for close to 70 years.

Maybe theres a large pocket of natural gas there or they looking for oil i used to be a roughneck sometimes we drilled dusters not too often though. When we were looking for oil natural gas was more a pain in the butt than anything we would just set up a flare and burn it off

Probably because someone discovered that there's a lot of natural gas underground there!

I'm just guessing but they're probably drilling gas wells because that's where the gas comes from. Duh!
