If so would you have to believe in fate? Do you think it is just a way for people to deal with life's hardships and injustices?

Yes I believe everything happens for a reason. Always in hindsight; you will see the answers. Learning by your mistakes... Sometimes it seems to take years and other times it sneaks up on you in the same instance of the event. The reason is always the answer. Maybe fate or perhaps it is the destiny the Lord had already planned for you. Lessons learned to bring you closer to him? The reason is God!

Yes, everything happens for a reason. For instance: The reason my hand hurts is that I had just hit it with a hammer.
Fate? I believe in causal relationships.
I do not think that it is only a way for people to cope but I would agree that it would function greatly as a coping mechanism.

Human beings, as well as animals and inanimate events have the ability to break the chains of strict causality postulated by Determinism. We are thus free to influence our affairs and our destiny. In changing our future from what it would have been without the interaction triggered by our free will, we are changing the very universe of which we are an integral part.

With the intervention of free will, our future, and thus the future of the universe, will follow a path different from the path it would have pursued without our intervention.

In addition to scientific considerations, common sense insists that Free Will exists. Who would deny that we have Free Will when we put one foot in front of the other and decide, of our own volition, of our own Free Will, to go for a walk or not go for a walk? It is clearly irrational to believe that a chain of causality at the time of the Big Bang determines if we go for a walk this afternoon, or not.

God doesnt believe in dice and neither do I.

We all have purpose, fate is not a crutch to deal with hardship, our hardships are necessary.

just look at children that are given everything and never have to earn anything and have no adversity ever. What happens to them. They focus on themselves and ignore others.

look at what happens after we face adversity or injustice, we grow, we find peace, we know if we face adversity again, we find strength to face it cheerfully!!

someone spoiled, what happens to them? they break down, they cant deal mentally with it. they fall to pieces.

Why do we value bravery and honor and justice?
shouldnt cowardice and selfishness be abhorred?

It can be a way for people to cope...everyone has their own belief systems that work for them...
I personally think that to have the philosophy that everything happens for a reason and to try & learn from it & to move on, is the best way for me...

Whatever it takes, eh?!

Yes. Although the reason may not be readily apparent. Cause and effect..if you can find first cause then you will have some understanding of the effect.
