I bought a new 160 gb seagate hd recently to add to my old 40 gb one. I set the jumper to cable select position and set it to be slave since the OS is in the old HD. It is detected in BIOS as slave, and also in the Windows(i can see it in my device manager). It has gone through 'New Hardware Detected' too. The problem is, the drive won't appear in My Computer. There are only drives of my old HD, but not the new one. Can you help me?

A new HD although a normally already formatted may need formatting. May I suggest putting your OS on your larger drive and changing it to MASTER and change your smaller drive to slave. there is a very good reason why I say this. now if you car afford it. obtain a program called HYPEROS. this program will allow you to split your HD into several parts it uses PART ION MAGIC once this has been done you can then put win 98, ME, Xp and VISTA on the same computer and move between the OS without having to turn off your PC then you can use your smaller drive for your document drive (Format it first though) you are also able to make a full back up of each drive so you never have to format the HD ever again. Find more info on GOOGLE (WWW.HYPEROS.com) you will be glad you did. By the way your system will need to be set in BIOS to LARGE HD so your system can fine the HD..Hope this helps...PC MAN.

Right-click on 'my computer' on the desktop, choose 'manage' then 'disk management' , your new drive need to be partitioned and formatted before Windows can access it
