Interesting concept. It certainly needs to be shortened. I like the fact that minnows can improve and oust established teams , but feel that an automatic qualification based on results from the previous Cup would not be fair. Things change, players retire etc.
Oh the idiot who wrote that Aussies bribe their way to victories ...Get real ..We don't need too. This is a sickness of the sub continent for which they are notorious. Not in the Aussie culture mate. Look at all the other sports we excel in and have for generations. The Olympics where we repeatedly place in the top 10 nations, beating countries with populations ten or fifty times our size!
Face it we just like our sport and are very good at it!

Well it's an interesting idea for sure. Do other sports do that too? I think though a lot can change in 4 years [i think it is about 4 years between world cup tournaments], so i think it should be decided closer to the time... I don't know why the top 4 teams would need automatic qualification and am not so sure that would make it any more interesting... Some sort of qualifying thing might be interesting.
Pros
- 8 teams might be a more sensible competition because more than that and we just see weak nations just get thrashed
- good idea to have something that continues from the last tournament [interesting idea].
Cons
- not really necessary [the top four qualifying automatically]
- a lot changes in 4 years

The next world cup is after a gap of 4 years. Who knows what will be the strength of the 4 semi finalists of this world cup by the time of next world cup. Hence it will not be fair to give direct entry to present semi finalists to super 8. I feel in order to reduce the length of the tournament and to make it more attractive, a qualification round should be played before the next world cup and based on the results, top 8 teams should be selected to play the world cup.

I put this earlier .--Cricket World Cup format.
World cup should be of only top 8 ODI rank teams+2 team from mini World Cup.. Each team should play to each other and then top 4 should qualify.
There should be Mini world cup before this and any team over ODI ranking 8 should play and top 2 qualify for World Cup.
This will give chance to team rank 9 and above to show their best and 2 best will get in W-Cup.
In W-Cup all ten will play to each other so even ateam does not do well in 1 or 2 match.. they will be in race.
This will keep excitementin the game.

Not the four but the top eight teams to play the world cup as per the ratings.
This is not footBall here in favrobale condtions Bermuda can beat Australia.
If the minnows have to qulify they should be in top eight.

that's a good idea.
but by 2011 - Australia dont have Hayden & gilchrist.
They are the Most Prolific Openers for Australia
since they started playing Cricket.
I theink Next time australia wouldn't qualify for the finals.
****!983-Kapil dev -won(India)
1992-pakistan won
1996-Sri lanka won
since 1992 Asian teams Qualified to Finals with Australia
2007 is the time who gave a biggest fight Aus and
It was Sri Lankans
and the final was didiculous .
2 worst decitions of worl cup finals given against sri lanka.
ICC could have called off the saturday match ,
because it was marred by constant arain ,bad weather
& bad light.
Instead when Australia got Advantage of the "ToSS"
& the start, everybody wanted to continue it ,
in order to make Australia "any how" the Winners.
they knew if they used the reserved day ,the Sunday
the toss & luck would have gone Sri lankans way.
They simply did not want to RISK it.
the money power & umpires always helped them to
your so called "Dominance"
Asians are the best
Even Bangladeshis beaten Bragging Ponting.
Everybody knows this truth .
but they dont want tell it ,
One of the reasons are, if they do ....
some of the "Australia backing-answerers "
use "bad words' to reply .
some Australian suporters always prefer worst
way possible to answer to the Secret of their
"Bribed -success"
other countries dont want to win by these unscrupulous means.

I hate to trust Baji yet he's ideal. An ODI wc each and every 4 years yet more advantageous communities in contact. For T20, have the international cup each and every 4 years as well and get rid of those sorts of alternative ineffective ODI and T20 competitions.

See, you don't have much competing teams to for any elimination rounds. So, it is not necessary for a screen test and ofcourse it may prove fatal for a country like India and Pakistan as they ve not performed well in the first round and now will be facing an elimination problem.

i dont like this suggestion coz there is a gap of 4 years between each world cup durin which the strength of teams can change and also teams cannot start afresh due to the carrying over of teams

world cup comes once in 4 yrs. so by that time lots have changed you might see a strong team struggling and many super star players on whom team relies might have gone and so any team having performed well dosent mean will be the same then and so the vice versa.
