Memory, or RAM, is the actual chip (or chips) dedicated to holding data used by programs.
Virtual memory is actually just hard drive space allocated for use as RAM, when your actual RAM is full.
Hope this helps!

Hi there,
I guess you're asking about the methods of addressing Random Access Memory or RAM: (a) Real - which the computer uses as its main memory to run programs; and (b) Virtual - which the computer uses as an extension of the real memory by utilizing free space in the hard drive (i.e. pagefile/swapfile). by using virtual memory, the computer seemingly uses more memory than what is physically present.
hope this helped.

Memory is the actual memory(RAM) you have installed Some computers have up to four slots and newer computers will accept 1 gig modules.
Virtual memory is where the computer uses some of your hard drive space for temporary storage. Processing is slower using virtual memory because the computer needs to find spaces on the HD to store the data, but it does stop your applications from crashing if you run out of RAM.
