By May 15 you can get a better gauge on the direction players are going as batters and pitchers. There are some who traditionally get off to slow starts and others who have "mad" stats early and ten level off. The Sox are playing well, so the saying will be, "Just wait until Manny gets going, they'll really be in the driver's seat in the East." Conversely, if the Sox were struggling like the Yanks, it would all fall on Manny.

Could it be maybe Manny enjoys the off season to much and doesnt really work hard during the winter? Being a live long Indians fan, I have a small small small place in my heart for him, but maybe this is the year that he struggles a good bit of the year and only has 25-30 HR's and 80-90 RBI's. Either way the BoSox have the best record in baseball, so he must be doing enough, even if protected Big Pappi !

Manny always starts off slow, just not this slow. Usually by the last half of April he starts to warm up, you have to wonder if he has any lingering knee problems no one is mentioning.

He'll end up with over 40 HRS and his usual 125 RBI's. If you like him, great. If not, then grieve because he's always a slow-starter. He's a natural hitter.

He is not setting up pitchers like he is known to do. He is slow to react to the fastball.
