I guess because you are apart from your parents and somewhat apart from your neighbors. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that you are set apart from your neighbors by a firewall.

You gotta look at the big picture~~one large building divided into smaller sections. They should call them cubbies like where we had to put our lunches in first grade! (my sandwich of mayo&lunchmeat always spoiled by lunch because the sun hit our cubbies and you know what that does to mayo! Sigh!)
