Do you think the lethal injection method is cruel?

I think poisoning someone is more cruel than chopping his head off or shooting his head.

Beheading is an instant death also shooting.

I don't think it's cruel ... I would imagine that no "nice" death method exists

caveat: this is just my opinion

and I've sometimes wondered if beheading is actually instantaneous or if a few seconds/milliseconds of consciousness happens?

just don't know ... tho all the methods listed here are mercifully quick

There is no sure, guaranteed, quick and painless death penalty method.

The old, mechanical methods, you mention tend to be prone to some horrific failures. The executioner sometimes missed the neck and required an extra blow (or two). Some times a dull ax meant a real hatchet job (pun intended).

Shooting someone does not guarantee instant death. I know one guy who shot himself in the head with a .45 auto. He actually survived, as a veggie, but he is alive.

Hanging isn't any better. If the "drop" is not properly calculated, you hang there and strangle to death (Saddam) or you get too much drop and your head gets torn off (Saddam's buddy).

I used to think the most effective way to execute would be to simply kick someone out of a high flying air craft. Damned if people haven't survived that as well.

Lethal injection is no more cruel than some repeat offender raping a 9 year old girl and then burying her alive with a stuffed animal. It's called living (dying) with the consequences of your actions. If you don't want to take the chance of death by lethal injection, don't do anything to deserve it.

lethal injection is painless. they go to sleep and die in their sleep... like putting down a dog or cat.

being shot or beheaded involves pain and is a violent way to die. I think those two options are more cruel than lethal injection.

They dont give the death sentence to nice people
they must have done something extremely bad like murder

electric chair does'nt always work right away.with lethal injection one of the drugs puts them straight to sleep they probably never feel a thing.

I find it crazy that people actually care about 'humanely' killing these people! Seeing as they have received the death sentence I am sure they weren't to worried about treating their victims too humanely.
