Yes. Wild caught animals have a very hard time switching from being wild to captive. They never had to rely on anyone but themselves. It's very stressful for a wild caught animal to have such a change in their life. Most wild caught animals don't live as long as they would if they were wild. Catching wild animals isn't only bad for the animal but for it's natural habitat as well. Other species depend on each other and if one's gone then the chain of life becomes off set.
Captive bred animals, on the other hand, already know what captivity is like and this is their way of life. You should never release a captive bred animal as they do not know how to care for themselves, they've always relied on you for food, and will die extremely prematurely. Captive bred depend on you and are actually easier to care for (and it's better for the environment).

Yes. They are cleaner and tame. Which translates to having a better pet. Wild-caught reptiles would generally be unfamiliar with everything that happens in the home.

They'll be easily frightened and more likely to bite so chances are, you'd be freaked out trying to handle it yourself. Also, wild caught reptiles will leave you with too many questions, (like where was it from? how old is it?) a problem you won't get with captive bred reptiles.

Finally a captive bred animal will already be used to being fed in a more convenient way. There's a huge reticulated python at the Singapore Zoo which was wild-caught and after decades still refuses to eat anything they serve. There's not place for such a big snake to survive in the wild in Singapore anymore so it has to stay in the zoo. It gets force-fed a large snakehead fish every couple of months to keep it alive.

Captive bred reptiles cost more because of all the important reasons mentioned above. Depending on the species of animal you are getting, captive-bred ones may even come in a variety of new and interesting colours which is always a lot more fun.

ABSOLUTELY!
For many reasons, you should never keep or buy a wild caught reptile unless you are conducting scientific research or you are dong animal rescue work.
Wild caught herps are more likely to beome stressed and ill after being caught, stress will cause their immune system function to degrade and make them sick. Any disease or parasites they are carrying will take advantage of this and proliferate, and wild herps most always carry parasites or other disease. They often will also refuse to eat...even starving themselves to death rather than eating what you offer them in captivity. And a proper change of diet to what they are used to in the wild is almost impossible, especially for an inexperienced person to mimic.

The caged pets that folk purchase are bred to be pets. they gained't stay to tell the tale contained in the wild. Many have fancy colorings that lead them to stick out to a predator. without survival skills, they might starve to dying. in spite of reptiles, many have been fed killed prey their total lives, so can not hunt, some won't consume stay prey in captivity. in actuality that human beings have bred animals to tournament our desires and this means they are no longer desirable to residing contained in the wild. some species have been captive bred for 1000's of generations if not greater. we've taken those animals out of their organic atmosphere and are responsible for them. putting them 'loose' is a dying sentence.

First of all you should never take a wild reptile and make a pet of it. There are plenty of breeders for every kind of pet reptile you can imagine. Let the wild ones be wild.

with a matter of fact statement YES. captive bred have many advantages over wild as they have not been subjected to outside chemicals such as pesticides and such. they have been fed correctly since birth and have a steady well balanced diet unlike wild who has to eat whatever they can to survive.
