my father is a disabled vietnam vet, he recieves disability, and a disbled check from the vets. A while ago they made him get a payee for his vets check because he has a drug problem. Can social security also do the same? Can he fight it if they try? he helps me with money also, if he does have to get a payee will he still be able to help me, since he earned that money from being disabled? Please help, im scared for us.

A social security payee cannot be forced on him, otherwise a whole slew of drug addicts and alcoholics would be in the same boat. However, if he gets a payee for the SSI, it will be up to the payee to decide how/where the money goes. So,yes and no to still helping you.

Why not solve the whole problem and become his payee? Are you old enough?

BUT you will have to account for where the money goes yearly. This is not a solution to go hogwild on a spending spree.

I don't know if social security can do that but are you a minor?If not, why do you need your father's money and he's disabled?
