A few weeks ago I posted a question asking about an orb found in one of my photo's....I have been keeping more aware of the surroundings and it dawned on me that my dog barks at nothing and growls and whimpers at nothing. Also when he sleeps, he growls and seems angry and timid all the same. I am worried about my lil pooch and I need advice or answers as to why he does this......I got him over a year ago from pet smart adoption center. The previous owners had abused him and that is why he was taken away from the horriable people. But as I mentioned in my prior question about this orb showing up in my photo's, after I had a miscarriage, where before I Iost my baby, none showed up. He just started barking at nothing and growling at nothing recently. What is the deal and how do I handle it. I wake him when I can when he is having these nightmares and I comfort him...but why is he doing these strange things now?......Please only serious responses.....thank you, Kimmie

I do know that dogs have dreams just like people, but this is an every time he falls asleep thing. Without fail, each time he goes to sleep, he will whimper, growl and make awful nosies....and this just recently started happening..it was every now and then when we first got him, but now it is occuring more and more each day/night.....

That is pretty harsh to call someone stupid. As I mentioned before, he did not do this until recently, please read trhough the entire question and statements before you make judgement on people...seems to me that you lack proper intelligence when you insult others as you have done me. How would you like it if someone called you stupid for just a simple question. If you must resort to name calling and insults, then you have no place answering questions on here....

I want to take back the insult I wrote about the dude who said I was stupid...I do apologize for posting such ugly comments about you..It is not like me to say such rude things to people I do not honestly know...was I offended about being called stupid?...yes I was...anyone would be...It was hypocritical of me to say such things when I was jumping down your throat for doing the same thing...I do not know if I have a spirit in my house or if it was just dust in my photos....I am concerned about my pup though and was just searching for an answer obviously...most of you have posted great answers and thoughts.....I do not know which one is the best...so most of you received a point from me...and I choose the funniest one as the best answer...it gave me a laugh...and I guess he does need some poo tang from a female doggie companion...I will try the classical music answer and see about getting a mate for him...thanks all and God bless everyone!!!!!!

Needs a mate. I bark at nothing and growl at everything too, when no mate around. Get the dog some real poo-tang.

I have four dogs and all of them "bark at nothing" or growl and carry on for no apparent reason. If the dog is sleeping, he's dreaming. If the dog is awake, he's probably hearing something that you can't ... I mean if a chipmunk runs across the roof, you might not hear it but the dog can. Just because there is no immediate explanation for something, doesn't mean you should attribute it to "invisible dead people".

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/doglessons
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Itstheho.that is a funny answer. I think they see and hear better than we do. He probably also has nightmares. Maybe you can pet him with some mellow classical or Christian notes and them also play them when he sleeps to soothe him. He may associate the sound to your petting (loving behavior) while he sleeps (in the next room?) Remember dogs are pack animals he may need a friend who talks the same language..bark bark.

those people don,t know you! you may have a spirit in your house. you know dogs howl, whimper, and bark. if spirits get close. spirits wonder around, could go anywhere. do you ever feel cool spots in odd places? most spirits are friendly. it may touch the hairs on your arm ,or turn something off or on. if they are uneasy, they may knock cloths down. even unscrew light bulbs. the dog will get used to it,or maybe it would move on.

Your orb is probably an out of focus bit of dust that your flash caught. I've been in photography for over 30 years and see them all the time... Your dog is dreaming and reacting to the dreams.

He can see things that you can't,and he knows that they are not of this world, which is why he growls.
He's telling them to stay back, cause he's protecting you.
