I got a Hard Disk Drive which has these features:
- USB to IDE Enclosure
- USE 1.1/USB 2.0 Compliant
- Aluminium Casing
- Easy Data Backup and Transfer
- Built-in Cooling Fan

It supports Windows XP. When I tried to connect the computer with it, Windows detected it and installed something. Later nothing happens. It is an external Hard Disk Drive, isn't it? How do I actually use it...? The box contains only a disk[supports only Windows98], a usb cable and adapter...

Here's the key I believe:

USB to IDE Enclosure. It's an enclosure, probably not a HDD. The driver windows installed could have been recognizing the ports initial use; ie it installed a USB driver, not an HDD driver.

Is the unit light as a feather...? Try opening the case to see if there's a drive in it. Hope this helps.
