I have two basic items, one about the size of a quarter, and one about the size of a paperclip, that I want attached to a necklace. I'm not interested in anything spectacularly fancy. These are two things that remind me of my (deceased) mother: a vintage baby starfish pendant encased in a gold crescent and a small gold piece of her first name. I'm basically just looking for a real delicate gold chain on which to hang the two pieces, but I would prefer if it was professionally done. Prices shouldn't be skyrocketting but I am willing to pay a lot, basically, as long as I get good quality. This is a ridiculous question but it means a lot to me. Any suggestions?

Haha. That's very kind of you. I know you can get a lot of "I was molested by aliens" responses when you ask questions like that.

Unless you're into getting molested by aliens, who knows.

Look up jewelers in your area (internet directory & yellow pages) & interview them - ask for references or samples of their work.

Take your time & look around each shop. See if the finished pieces resonate w/ you. Hold out until you find someone you feel comfortable with & can work with esp. since these pieces are very meaningful.

Any reputable jewelry store, either chain or independent have jewelers that can easily do this for you. Check with the local Better Business Bureau and talk to friends to see if they have any stores they recommend.
