Anything that happens after someone says NO - other than stopping. If you ask someone not to do something to you, and they do it anyway - it's rape.

The legal definition of rape varies from nation to nation.
The following is an exerpt of Irelands "CRIMINAL LAW (RAPE) ACT, 1981":
"(1) A man commits rape if—
( a ) he has unlawful sexual intercourse with a woman who at the time of the intercourse does not consent to it, and
( b ) at that time he knows that she does not consent to the intercourse or he is reckless as to whether she does or does not consent to it,
and references to rape in this Act and any other enactment shall be construed accordingly."
Is this sexist? Yes, it fails to protect men in any way.
It was therefore amended in the "CRIMINAL LAW (RAPE) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1990":
"(1) In this Act "rape under section 4" means a sexual assault that includes—
( a ) penetration (however slight) of the anus or mouth by the penis, or
( b ) penetration (however slight) of the vagina by any object held or manipulated by another person."
This is once again partially sexist. It fails to protect men.
Of course, men are provided protection under other sections of the law pertaining to sexual assault as well.

Rape is non consentual sex. It can be sex by force, or with a person who is unable to consent either by means of impairment or age. In some places rape is defined by the vaginal penetration, with all other sex being listed under sodomy laws.

aside from the previous answers about it's primary definition, it also refers to cutting or mutilating an inanimate object. for example, the satire "The Rape of the Lock" refers to a lock of hair that gets cut in the story. another one is when a friend of the family joked that my sister "raped" her piece of pizza when she separated the cheese, toppings, and sauce from the crust. It's also used in reference to video games, such as "spawn raping", where you sit near an enemy respawn point and kill anyone who revives.
