I can't tell you how many times I bought something, took off the tag... & decided I didn't want it.
Do you have the reciept? It shouldn't be a problem if you have that.
If not, just go in & explain that you don't have either. They should be able to give you cash or at least store credit. I don't think they can really say no - obviously it's from AE (You're not going to buy something from Abercrombie & slap the AE tag on it, lol), & if it's a current style, it definately shouldn't be a problem because they can grab a tag off one from the shelf to scan to get you the correct refund.
Unfortunately, if you don't have the receipt & the item has since gone on sale - you'll probably get the refund of the most current price.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

all you need is the receipt.. It does not matter if it has the tag or not. and remember if the manager gives you a hard time just ask for the number to AE corporate and tell him you are going to report him to his regional and that will scare him..hahahaha you can get away with anything by com planing in hospitality and retail..
