Since the bible says in Mark 12:41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."

WITH THIS IN MIND, IT'S BETTER FOR THE POOR TO PUT IN MORE INTO THE TREASURY, AND OUR TAXES SHOULD BE REFLECTED UPON THIS. STOP TAXING US RICH FOLKS SO MUCH! WHY DON'T LIBERALS LISTEN TO THE BIBLE?

The whole problem with poor people is that they have way too much money. And the money they do have they just fritter away on all kinds of cheap stuff. Poor people should be taxed more so that the money can be spent on our military, and they will not be able to buy so many tv's and all kinds of other useless junk that poor people buy. Also rich people need more money so that they can support the economy and buy quality merchandise, like expensive clothes, yachts, champagne and fancy cars. That is only going to help the economy. So it is unfair to tax the rich. It is much more productive to tax the poor. This is why we need to support the President. He recognizes this problem and has done everything in his power to make the poor poorer, make the rich richer and spend as much as possible on the military.

"In the United States, wealth is highly concentrated in a relatively few hands. As of 2001, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 33.4% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 51%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 84%, leaving only 16% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers)."

-Professor G. William Domhoff ( Sociology Dept, UC Santa Cruz)

The gap between the lower and upper class is at its height and many social scientists believe in the next 50 years the middle class will most likely merge into the lower class. Because of this uneven distribution of wealth the poor individuals ironically, despite mainstream stereotypes, pay the most taxes because they consist of a larger population base than the few wealthy.

I could go on but I will leave further research to you. Please for the sake of this country do not ever use the Bible out of context. There is a field called Sociology, there are people called sociologists who study such things as poverty, social conditions, etc. I suggest you enroll yourself into a nearby community college and start erasing your ignorance. The Bible should be the last book you should ever cite in academia .

Your understanding of the Bible would be greatly altered if you take something as basic as the first course in religious studies.

boy you really are stupid aren't you. The old women put in all she had. While the rich people were putting in a very small percentage. Looks like you have your logic backwards.

Hope you love your money. Because Jesus also said that its easier to pass a camel through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to get into heaven.

Sounds like your god is really money. Thats okay have fun burning in hell.

It is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 6:24 – “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other: or else he will hold on to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (money).

Himm me thinks you missed the point of the parable but maybe on purpose? To make what point though? It's interesting to me that the libs all squak about Bush's tax cuts being just for the rich. And that Clinton was more fair with his tax percentages. OH really. If you go to the Library of congress website you will find that under Clinton the rich paid a lower percentage of taxes then under Bush and the middle class paid a higher perchentage under Clinton then Bush. But who am I to confuse the lib wanna be's on here with facts lol

Are you nuts. You don't pay taxes anyway! So go preach to someone who cares.

How can the rich complain about taxes when they have been stealing from the poor since 1776!

And quit using the bible out of context! You know you have as much chance of getting to Heaven as a camel passing through an eye of a needle!

No you see god was pointing out to his disciples how the poor in society were being forced to pay more by virtue of their poverty.

Nice of you to remind us all that the situation has not changed in the last 2000 years. Everybody struggling to get by should remember that next time they are tempted to vote Republican.

It also says it's easier for a rich man to pass the eye of the needle than to get into the kingdom of Heaven.

So prepare for Hell...

You are right Truth Seeker, she did not understand it one bit!
He was not saying that the poor woman SHOULD pay more, he was commenting on how she had so much less but was ever so much more generous than that stingy rich person who has much and gave so little PROPORTIONATELY! He was praising the poor widow, and commending her! *sm*

It also says "render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's"...meaning taxes and money. So you shouldn't complain about taxes, b/c it doesn't matter. (in the eyes of the Lord)

It also says it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into heaven.

And it wasn't a general treasury for the govt she was giving the money to, it was a church...very different principle
