The term military brat is something most people in a military community take pride in. Military kids usually move several times, (8 times on the average), during their upbringing and are therefore subjected to many different cultures. According to wikipedia it is neither a subjective nor a judgmental term; Also, "Military brats may not develop strong relations with people or places, but form strong connections with the notion of a military base. This is because the knowledge, experience, values, ideas, attitudes, skills, tastes, and techniques that are associated with the military differ from civilian culture."

The army brat is not the same as a spoiled brat (definition of brat is a child...typically poorly behaved). It comes from growing up in a very unique family and community structure.

You frequently move (luckily my dad stopped moving around the time I turned 6, my older brother went to five schools before turning eight) so personal relationships tend to be poorly formed as you know you don't want to get to close.

Your family grows up in a situtation where rank is very important and this filters down to the family life as well. (fellow Air Force brat friends would get in huge trouble if they did not respond with sir, yes sir to their father) Your family is stationed away from your extended family so you as a child do not devleope the bonds that exist between cousins, grandparents, and other relatives as it is not often that you see them.

The military brat term is a term of endearment showing a collective we. Other kids have no idea what is going on in Iraq (or in previous conflicts) but those on military bases know exactly what is going on as your parents get sent overseas (during peacetime too).

I had friends whose parents were in the military. I never heard the term until one of them used it. As for me calling them "army brats" I never did.

even as their definition of born-back is diverse than yours, i have met many who's considered born back through your definition and all are considered born back through the definition of baptism. i have heard beforehand on the radio that if I make higher my hand close to the audio equipment and state that I settle for Jesus i'm born back - no offense yet i do not fairly like or get that concept. i'm a Mormon, i might want to judge myself born back in 2 senses, one is even as i go with to be baptized close to my eighth birthday, the different develop into even as my faith and concept develop into shown into my heart replacing my outlook and targets in existence from that of an off-the-cuff Mormon to a committed one. I really have and frequently undergo witness of my Savior; i'm born back, I merely have not performed so contained in the precise way that you've. regrettably many sense that the label is something except what it really is; extremely contained in the Catholic church as once you're saying "born back" they are maximum in all probability to associate it with a set that stems off of a set that develop into created protesting the Catholic church. the problem is the colloquial definition of being born back as against the biblical definition. maximum Catholics, Mormons, JWs, and different Christians are "born back" through the biblical definition (all are if it skill baptism) yet to the quantity that the word has now develop right into a religious designation everyone is guarded in how they use it.
