My mother has been insisting (tries to make it sound jokingly but know she would love this) that we name my daughter after her. I have my heart set on Alexis Leigh (Leigh is my middle name, and has been in the family, on my mothers side). But got to thinking. Possibly having her name be: Alexis Leigh Victoria Johnson. Victoria being my mothers name. Would that be too much? what do you think of the name? Thanks!!

This is the only girl so far in my family. Both my sisters cannot have kids, and my brother and his wife are ''done'' having them. They only had boys, and one has the middle name after my father. So don't want her to lose the chance, and would love for her to be thrilled with this. I know it would mean the world to her.

Since I was told in my other question not to name a child because of a joke, thought I would clarify. My mother says things like she is joking but know she would love to have her grandaughter named after her. Will say things like ''She's naming her baby after me!'' to people. I would never name a child after a joke. But know my mom doesn't want to come out and request it, so that is how she brings it up.

I think two middle names would work. I know a set of twins who have 6 names each, which is ridiculous. The only suggestion I would make is to switch it to Alexis Victoria Leigh Johnson, if that works for you. It flows better, in my opinion. But either way, it works and your mom will be happy! :) (I know what you mean with the hint-dropping too, my mom is the queen of hints, haha... I can't wait until I'm pregnant and she "jokes")

I dont think that it is too long! Many people do that now a days, and its not like you are going to be calling her by her full name EVERY single minute. Say it out loud and imagine your daughter graduating high school or college or something, and see if you would like the sound of it! I personally think that it is very cute! Or maybe you could just name Leigh Victoria or you could name her Victoria Alexis Leigh Johnson.....if you are unsure still you can always try mixing the names around. You could have her first name be Victoria like I said before, but call her by her "middle" name which would be Alexis.....many people do that now a days too!! Good luck....and dont stress about it too much.....maybe you should just wait until she is born and you see what she looks like...you will definetley know then!

I don't think there is any harm in giving your daughter two middle names so long as YOU are OK with it. Middle names can be insignificant for the most part or they can be a big deal. You could name her Alexis Leigh Victoria & when she's in trouble still just holler "ALEXIS LEIGH!!!!"

I like Alexis Victoria Leigh better though in terms of flow, but if you really are just tagging Victoria on to appease your mom definitely have it be the third name. But don't think it's out of bounds to have two middle names.

I love the 2 middle names idea. I have a friend with two gorgeous little boys and her and her husband named them

* Baxter Leslie Ray
and
* Archer Christopher Gordon

Alexis is a beautiful name for a little girl, and I have to agree with other posters that say "Alexis Victoria Leigh" flows better. Best of luck with your decision and also your precious new bundle of joy! xx

I think whatever you have picked for your child is fine. As long as you can live with the decision. Congrats on the girl by the way, I'm 31 weeks pregnant now with my first and have been told its a girl. And if the sonographer is right her name will be Ashley and middle name Marie. Ashley cos no one else on both sides of the family have that name and we like it and her middle name marie is from my grandmother and also my husbands mums name is marie and my little sisters middle name is marie. So it basically covered alot of people asking us to call her after them. Good luck

I think that that would be a very nice way to honour your mother and that she will be thrilled. Victoria is a lovely name. Don't worry about how long it is. It's not like it's going to be part of her common name that will be used everyday. I say go for it and make your mom happy!

Two middles names won't work in this day and age where everything is done by a form. She won't have anywhere to write her extra name. Do you really want to name your daughter after your mom or are you trying to find a way not to? Don't do it if you don't want to. Your mom had her kids and she had her chance to name them. Now it's your turn. This happened to a friend of mine and it actually caused a fight in the family. He had to tell his mom to back off and she didn't like that.
