Check out the UC Berkeley site at collegeboard.com. Just go to the website and use the college search to find Berkeley. From there you'll be able to find lots of information by category regarding the college.
Here's my personal take on Berkeley:
Berkeley is a public university, one of the campuses of the UC system. It is the top public university as well as ranked in the top five internationally for the sciences. The Haas school of Business and the engineering school at Berkeley are each near the top of their respective lists.
Berkeley is not as much a place of political activism as it used to be, but protests and political rallies are still held often. The university is very diverse with respect to ethnicity, culture, religion, political views, and many other categories.
Classes at Berkeley can be very large, but that is remedied by certain classes being seminar only as well as the professors and GSIs holding office hours and discussion sections. Many of the classes are graded on a tough curve, so students must keep on top of their studies. The academic atmosphere is rather competitive due to this curve.
The city of Berkeley surrounding the university is ripe with restaurants and places to take those much needed breaks from studying. In addition, Berkeley is just a BART ride away from San Francisco. Public transportation is very accessible from Berkeley.

Hi,
I'm not trying to be sarcastic or condescending, but to help you make a better project:
UC Berkeley is not a college (or a "school"). It is a public university.
Within UC Berkeley are various colleges and schools; for example, the College of Letters and Science (L & S) and the College of Natural Resources.
UC Berkeley is not a liberal arts college; the College of Letters and Science is, though.
Two sites that will help you have already been recommended, but here they are again:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California%2C_Berkeley
http://www.berkeley.edu
And here's the site for the College of Letters and Science:
http://ls.berkeley.edu/
May God bless you.

No, UC Berkeley is part of the University of California. It is a public, doctoral-extensive research university, which means that it offers a broad range of programs from undergraduate to the doctoral level. If you need more information, look at their website at www.berkeley.edu.

It's infested with liberals, even more than most, from what I understand.
