I believe that people are born gay. I mean who chooses to be gay with all the gay bashing and taunting that gay people receive. I am a daycare teacher and I encountered a 4 year old who is gay. On the other hand I don't think people choose to be gay but maybe someone did something to them as a child and they grew to think of this as the norm, or maybe a girl was experimenting with her friend and found that she liked to be licked by a girl. Those are some types of people who aren't born gay but are gay but they didn't really choose to be. That's like saying you choose to be fat. Yeah you can do something about it but some people just don't have that will power and they love to eat. I hope that helped you oout.

Scientific researchers have shown that being gay is based on biological and genetic factors.
Of these numerous scientific studies, one study found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality; another study found extreme differences in X chromosome inactivation between women who had gay sons and women who did not; and yet another study found that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.
Even the ultra conservative president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has said that scientific research "points to some level of biological causation" for homosexuality & "I am absolutely confident that a large number of homosexuals are telling the truth when they say they did not choose that orientation."

why does that matter at all? i don't get it. all that matters, as far as I'm concerned, is that it is not something that can be chosen or controlled. if it comes from the genes or the environment, what difference does it make?
people look at homosexuality as if it is some kind of disease. they want to find the cause so they can find the cure. i think that's not only ridiculous but also highly cruel and inhuman. i'm straight, but i know that i can't chose who i'm attracted to, who i fall in love with. maybe someday there will a magic little pill that will allow people to decide who or what they like. you know what? i don't want my feelings to be pill induced. i like brocoli and hate honey. i don't want to love honey, no matter what benefits it would have for my health. i don't want to hate brocoli no matter how many popular people hate it. i am perfectly happy loving brocoli and hating honey.
homosexuals do not need to be healed, or saved, or "fixed". there is nothing wrong with them. continuing to look for "causes" is a waste of time and money, and an insult. it reeks of eugenics too. if it is ever traced to a gene, next thing you know, we'll have people pushing to have homosexuals contained so they can't spread the genetic "misprint".
homosexuals are just that - homosexuals. it doesn't matter why, any more than it matters why some people are blonde and some are not. we're just different. live with it.

I think that a lot of times we try to deal with issues by circumventing them... Or at least think that we're dealing with them that way. Nature/Nurture is like that for me. People argue that homosexuality is a choice... Or that it's natural and can not be controled... Or that it's a combination...
I'm gay, and I guess I lean mostly towards the line of thought that it's partially nature and partially nurture and is different for each person. But ultimately I just don't think that it matters. The reality is that I am CURRENTLY gay and that me and the people around me CURRENTLY need to deal with it the best way possible. To invest time in understanding the past is pointless, since it will not at all change the present.
If you know someone who is gay, or if you are gay and struggling with it, there is no real sense in trying to understand it's development and it's growth. The most urgent priority is to understand yourself of your loved one currently and to adjust and plan accordingly.

I'm 16 years old, and I'm gay, and I know I am. I didn't choose this way, I just am; like your straight or whatever you are. It's all about genetics, cause in my father side of the family I have a gay uncle and a few gay cousins. ALL ABOUT GENETICS!

All men have a sexual need for men. It is all too evident in any male-dominated, traditional society.
The western society claims to be open but its only heterosexually open and its has given such nasty feminine 'gay' space for such bonds that men would rather hide and suppress their sexual need for men, than indulge in it and be forced out of the straight space.
Only the feminine guys (including transgendered, effeminate and masculine acting guys) who like promisucous, receptive anal/ oral sex relate with the gay identity and they form the chunk of the gay space. The heterosexual society showcases them as representative of man to man sexuality.
The truth is gays don't represent man to man sexuality. In the non -western world feminine gendered males are not considered males (its not to disdain them, but to acknowledge their feminine gender). A gay to male sexuality is not seen as 'homosexual' but very much in the realm of 'heterosexuality'. This is something westerners have difficulty understanding as we have a difficulty understanding their sexual labels.
If someone calls me gay for liking another man, I will take that as an abuse.

united states statistics show that 1 out of 6 boys and 1 out of 4 girls in this country are victims of sexual abuse. under the age of 18. those numbers are staggering. the point in stating these statistics is obviously with these numbers in molestations accuring in boys of such a young age prove that these were GAY men who commited these vile acts. many gay men were molestated/sodomized as youngsters. i believe this to be a major contribution to the large numbers of gay men. i myself have talked to many gay men and 90% of the ones that I HAVE MET did perclaim to have been molested or sodomized. i am not saying that all gay men do these things because there are many who of corse do not. but do not exclude the possibility of that 6 year old having been molested. pedophiles can strike any where any time. the parents could be totaly oblivious for what happened to their son. i watched a show on hbo called transgendered and they stated that ineurope they had done several brain tests on murdered cross dressors/transvestites and found them to have a higher level of female hormones in their body then persumed straight men. there for in europe the punishments or hate crimes against a gay man had been upgraded to a higher charge then previous. they believe it to be a medical/phycological inbalance and their right to life must be respected. my own personal opinion on the matter as a muslim is it is a choice. just like any other thing god commands you not to do. there are many sinful behaviors i would like to take part in because i feel it would enhance my enjoyment out of life. such as drink, party, gamble etc.... but instead i stay clear from it. i believe that gods word comes first. but there is evidence as i have previously stated that some people are just the way they are. i personaly believe that if you prey enough and hve th will power then you can over come your lust. it will always be there just like the urge to kill some one who does you wrong. you just surpress it.

How terrible that when you say "My friend's gay six year old brother," that some people automatically assume that this little kid was sexually abused. Just terrible.
