You don't say where you are located, so it is difficult to find help for you. There are many sources available for help. The following link is for the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC area, but perhaps they would have information for other areas of the US as well -

http://www.disabilityguide.org/wheel_repairs.html

Many colleges have programs on campus where students perform the repairs. Perhaps if you simply searched the Internet for "wheelchair repairs in ........" you may find a resource. Good luck.

A lot of chair repair shops are closing down because the state Medicaid laws are cutting their profits so badly. It is a tough business to make money at.

You can try the yellow pages under wheelchairs- just start calling them and see who repairs. In most states, the repairs do not have to be done by the original seller- but most shops make the money on the sale and many are unwilling to take on new clients they won't make much money on.

In almost every community, however, there is someone who will do it.

Heck, if you tell me the repair needed, I can probably help you find the parts and directions you need to have a handyperson do it for you.

Call your local radio station for a reporter to do a human intrest story or call state vocational rehab center to see if they can help. Call local churches. Call a community action agency. Advertise in local trade paper that you need help. Keep asking until you get some. Call a polititian . Call the manufacturer of the wheelchair you own and ask for nearest repair facility. Good luck and God speed.

Where are you located? Is your chair power or manual? What is wrong or what parts do you think you need?
