He knows alot, of course anyone would if their career was covering the NFL draft. Think about it he does it year round, this week for him was like tax time for an accountant. He is knowledgeable but the draft is a crap shoot especially after the first round. I think its ridiculous how teams follow his advice. Wow, the draft is based way too much on the combines and not enough on performance in college. Dwayne Jarrett for example will be a great NFL talent and everyone was talking about him being a mid first rounder. Then Kiper decides he's only 2nd round material, so where does he go? Thats right 2nd round. You would think teams would be smart enough to make their own picks. The Colts for example take Anthony Gonzalez at WR with #32. That is a joke to me, can you imagine how much Dwayne Jarrett would stretch that offense and how big of a weapon he would be for Peyton? Instead they get a slow, undersized Receiver who lives in a bubble. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I think that is a false dichotomy. Kiper is not very good at evaluating talent over the long haul and the notion that someone can rate a draft class without actually finding out how well the players pan out is ludicrous. The entire activity is pretty bogus, so referring to Kiper as "an idiot" would have to be an indictment of the whole "draft expert" notion, which is idiotic, and not of him.
As far as genius goes, I am not certain what skills he possesses that anyone would call "genius." And no, making money does not make a person a "genius."

I think Mel Kiper has no clue on what he is talking about. He makes these speculations or judgements about how good or not these players are going to be even before they have even played a down. I guess my question is how in the heck can anyone know or make a prediction like that?
Another thing, this whole mock draft crap is an exercise in futility. What is the point? Its going to change anyway and GM's never do what you think they'll do.
I think all that hair gel has begun to seep into Mel's brain.

Mel Kiper is king of the idiots. Mike Mayock on the NFL Network, for those people that get that channel, is a much better analyst than Kiper.

Kiper is in the top 5 while Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News has been the most accurate the past 5 seasons. Kiper hasn't come close to Rick.
Either way Kiper is laughing all the way to the bank.

There has never been an "expert" more worthless in the world of Sports than Mel Kiper, Jr. What pro team did he play for? Oh, he didnt play pro football. What college did he play for? Oh wait, he didnt play in college either. He got some rinky degree in sports broadcasting and now he should be telling porfessional football teams who they should be drafting? I dont think so. But I guess in a way hes a genius also. I mean he has ESPN fooled into thinking he knows what hes talking about.

You're possibly in exactly the same ship as the great majority of sports gamblers up and down the united states that are losing a lot more than they ever win. You might have the casual gain that keeps you coming back for more, but all the time your selections lose. And that prices you actually more cash! If you intend to put the conclusion at this dilemma you then should look here https://tr.im/zVKG9 .

Yes, he is arrogant. I think he lets his success go to his head sometimes. I keep asking myself what was it that made this guy so big? I have to laugh when ESPN refers to him as "Mel Kiper, Draft Expert". That's his actual title! Is there a college degree that you have to get to become a "draft expert"?
I will never forget when Colts GM Bill Polian let Kiper have it, embarrassing him live on TV, when Kiper jumped all over the Colts for choosing Marshall Faulk. That was hilarious. Kiper had his head down and looked like he wanted to cry!
I saw some moron gave me a thumbs down. I thought it was a pretty good answer. I guess they know I'm smarter than they are.

He's the **** Vitale of the NFL Draft. I'm glad Kiper can crawl back under a rock until next year's draft. Almost all of ESPNs Draft coverage was annoying. I watched 95% of the draft on the NFL Network.
