Find an online course with a rolling or short term arrangement. Since you are in California, the community college system is very cheap. Find the course you want at www.cvc.edu or through one of the university Extensions. There are also online schools which allow you to finish it quickly, but they require discipline and many people don't feel prepared for the exam after they finish. Taking a real class seems to force most people to learn what they need. Good luck.

Check out the California department of real estate website. There are three required course: Real Estate Principals, RE Practice, and a RE class of you choosing.

Google California Real Estate Course: Investigate one of the thousand or so that come up. It takes some time and money before you make a dime from selling real Estate.

You have to stay in the course until you complete all of the lessons and take the final exam.

Just order book online & read yourself. That's what I did and passed with ease.
