I sense that the root of this question lies somewhere outside the realm of appearances and more in the way of substance. Shadows don't feel anything, but we can attach emotions to almost anything.
I may be very wrong and very much out of line, but does the question mean something like: Do you feel as empty as me?
In my opinion, the human condition is one of pursuit of meaning. We exist to find it. For some, it's as simple as waking up and making coffee, but for others, it's a struggle. For them, it seems to go deeper into ideas and thoughts.
I feel empty often. I have a permanently open space in my chest. So far, the only thing I've found to fill it is god and spirituality, and I don't do a very good job of letting god do what god does.

No! Lonely is not a: " SHADOW !" To be lonely is the fluffiness of your existence in the empty space around! I have been lonely for so many years and I don't see my-Self as a shadow! A shadow is the Self fallacies create by a negative perception of the surrounding! When, I am lonely I have around me the global positive energies of the Universe! The positive Global Energies of the Universe is the Creation that sustain all the living human existence. To be lonely is a music. Music is the sound of Self-breathing in relationship to the light. Light is the speed frequency with the Creation? Believe in the Creation is a positive forces that make the lonely to stand high against the darkness.
Dark is evil? Light is the Truth of the living Soul in communication within the Creation ! A real friend is the light! A dark is deceptive friend? A Light is a Truth! A dark is a lies!
I am not afraid to be lonely. My Holy Spirit is the conquer of the Universe against the dark. I am always in good company with my lonely space!
The choice is yours between the" LIGHT " and the dark?
This is Dr. Jovany

It is you who the real friend of your shadow. The light and darkness are the mediums which display short and long of your relationship with Shadow. Shadow is never lonely , but has you for the company always .It is different that you being the originating point , does not have the control of the distortions the shadow makes of your image

a shadow has no consciousness. The shadow exists only when there is a certain alignment between object and a light source. Therefore if one was to equate friendship with catalyst then both the object and light are it's friends. Further more darkness is a relative attribute of the shadow and a reaction from the object and light source thereby making it as indispensable as the other factors.

Not at all - because you are always attached to someone who looks just like you. However, it might get lonely on cloudy days when shadows go someplace, but then I assume they are probably with other shadows playing cards or something. And at night, I think your shadow cuddles up in bed with you and keeps you company while you sleep. Not such a bad life. Pax - C

The real friend is the "YOU" you let show. The shadow is what you cast upon you by standing far from the light. You see if you let it shine right from above, there would be no shadow. Unless...of course...you prefer a shadow for for your own company.

I have tried to catch my shadow and it always moves away from me.
A real friend isn't like a shadow....it doesn't run away and is always there, unlike a shadow which is dependent on lighting

To be sheilded from the sun?..... yes.... It would get lonely.... Unless of course, you had that some -thing/one that came between you and the sun to produce your shadow...... Then there'd always be something in the way.....
