On the transactions list in my league, there are two guys who constantly add a player, and then two minutes later go ahead and drop him. They do this periodically with about ten different players, and they do it back to back to back to back, etc. Is there some hidden benefit to this that I am not seeing? I can't see how having the most transactions would benefit anybody????

Yes, if someone has a bad waiver priority, and someone drops someone good, the best way to hide that drop is to make 4 or 5 moves so the players name does not show in the recent transaction. The person would have to search players or transactions to see his name. Kinda sketchy but common took used. The best way to prevent these type of cheats is to set a limit on moves to like 40 or 50.

It is called STREAMING. Those 2 people are constantly picking up and dropping a combination of players that they will use from time to time and it protects them from having other league members waste a WAIVER pick on them. In reality, people that do streaming usually don't win league titles because they are using so many different players during the course of the season that are risky at best.

Good answer given first. Another would be similar. They may want to save a player on the waiver wire for themselves. Most owners won't waste a waiver add on a marginal player. They may want to use the guy at a later time so by adding and dropping him it basically would assure the player would still be on the waiver wire when they wanted to add them.

the benefit is they want the player but not right away and they don't want anyone else to get the player and use him against him. By claiming him & dropping him he forces the player to go through the waiting period again, this works well with SPs due to 5-day rotation effectively killing their next start for anyone who claims him.

Also if you pick the right two minute span ie 1158pm and midnight Pacific Time you can actually add one day drop the next thus being able to use him in your lineup for a day.
